Aquamid® is a soft volume filler, which integrates naturally into the body’s own tissue.Aquamid® is a biocompatible, non-allergenic and non-absorbable hydrogel consisting of approximately 97.5% water and 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide gel.

Aquamid® is hydrophilic, allowing continuous water exchange with the surrounding tissue, which reduces the risk of biofilm formation.

Aquamid® is homogenous and does not contain micro-particles. Its filling effect is due solely to the injected volume. In other words, what you see is what you get.

In comparison to fillers with micro-particles, Aquamid®’s filling effect does not rely on an intended foreign body reaction to micro-particles acting as host irritants. Therefore, Aquamid® does not elicit tissue hardening or fibrosis.

Aquamid® becomes fully integrated with the tissue via a fine fibrous network. It does not migrate from the injection site. With time Aquamid® becomes vascularized enabling immune system access.
